Press release: MBM introduces its blog: On Leadership

Rolf Janke

“When librarians lead, great things happen.” – Courtney Young, ALA President-Elect

Santa Barbara, CA (May 28, 2014) – Mission Bell Media (MBM), was recently launched with the vision of providing leadership-focused print and digital resources for librarians and their community. As a way to discuss issues in the library today, to learn from those in the library trenches, and to inform future publications, MBM has introduced its new blog: On Leadership with an opening interview with American Library Association President-Elect Courtney Young.

Bringing a fresh perspective to the leadership discussion, Mission Bell Media understands the importance of librarians and their ability to lead the way for others, so both the blog and the forthcoming reference titles will present relevant, engaging and inspiring content on the best of leadership across the disciplines, helping readers achieve success by learning from those who have already succeeded.

The blog, which will be written by a collection of library-focused voices, will feature interviews, intel and insights from leaders across the library and academic landscape and the first featured interviewee is the prestigious ALA President-Elect Courtney Young, who is head librarian at the J. Clarence Kelly Library at Penn State Greater Allegheny.

“We’re thrilled that Courtney Young has agreed to be our first featured interviewee for On Leadership,” commented Mission Bell Media founder Rolf Janke, who has over 35 years experience in the academic publishing industry. “Courtney brings a wealth of library leadership knowledge to our audience and is the perfect example of the type of leaders we’ll be featuring.”

“Librarians who lead are special people,” added Courtney Young. “They lead not only for the profession, but for their patrons. When librarians lead, great things happen: collections are improved, new services are implemented, relationships are developed with stakeholders, and professional development opportunities are created ensuring we stay at the top of our game and have the best skills possible to serve our community members.”

All those who want to be part of the leadership conversation can find On Leadership at: www.missionbellmedia.com.
